I wondered today if it is (a) normal, (b) abnormal, or (c) psychotic that I’ve gotten more introverted over the years. For those of you alone while you’re reading this, you’ll be glad to know it’s totally normal.
The “I’m just happy being by myself, thank you” aging phenomenon is called intrinsic maturation.
And it makes sense biologically. As you age, you become less and less in need of attracting mates, so you’re no longer required to spend your nights at Bombay Bicycle Club ordering whiskey sours and chatting it up with the cute guys hanging out by the pool table. Instead, you can be perfectly content on the couch with your old labrador and an episode of Schitt’s Creek.
What did I do while I was enjoying solitude this week? I obsessed about the political landscape, of course, but I also wrote:

And yes, I know I said I was going to take a break from writing short satire, but I was feeling particularly ranty this week.
Just be thankful I didn’t take it out on you.

I am surprisingly perfectly content by myself nesting at home with my hubs. I guess I am intrinsically mature. Whew.

Isn’t it nice to know you’re mature somehow? š

I like your statement on intrinsic maturation. Long gone are the days at the Bombay Bicycle Club. Iām very happy to spend the night watching Netflix and getting to bed early.

Very.Long.Gone.

I’ve been intrinsically mature for ages… or some could say homebody, couch potato, stay at home mom. Wink
It is comforting to know that it eventually happens to all. I say if you’re happy then all is good.
Also, just realized your emails have been going to junk; think I’ve got that corrected. Always love reading your stuff!
Lucie Frost says
Well the couch potato part…that’s been going on for a while with me too.
Yes! Get me out of junk right away — that’s NOT where I belong!
Glad you’re enjoying.

Loved the Kamala questions!!! Sooo funny, sadly true at times, but mainly funny as hell! You know there are people thinking about some of those “issues.”
Lucie Frost says
If they ask anything like this in tonight’s debate, grrrrr.
