Hello friends.
It has been a while since I’ve written a proper update. I get lazy about those, but it’s only because I had to catch up on Handmaid’s Tale. That important work is done, so I can get back to business.
Here’s what’s going on in my world:
The judge signed the order changing my transgender daughter’s name. It’s official. I’m so happy for her, though admittedly, it took me a minute. I hope you’ll read my essay on Next Tribe about working through those feelings. I Want to Be Excited for My Transgender Daughter

I retired from a lifetime of lawyering, determined to use my skills to save the world in some way.
Instead, I watched 90 Day Fiancé.
Those of you who “knew me when” know how hard my divorce was on me.
I wrote this piece, which was published on NextTribe today, about the small kindnesses that lifted me up during that time.
The world punishes you enough for being overweight. You don’t need airline passengers giving you the message that your size is not okay.
