The judge signed the order changing my transgender daughter’s name. It’s official.
I’m so happy for her, though admittedly, it took me a minute.
I hope you’ll read my essay on Next Tribe about working through those feelings.

As the mother of a transgender son, your essay meant (means) so much to me. It is challenging for most people to really comprehend the transition process that parents go through alongside their kids- loving beyond measure that your child has found themself and their true identity, while simultaneously experiencing the emotions of letting go the child you raised. In your beautiful essay you gave me such a sense of warm community and shared experience. Thank you so very much (!)
Lucie Frost says
I’m so glad. That was exactly my hope–to acknowledge that yes, the transition is difficult on us parents too, but also yes, we’ll get there if we lead with love.
I am grateful that my daughter was open to my sharing this story, in the hopes it would help other parents.
